Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." Matt. 25:40

Honduras microloan Marvin Sánchez was one of the Society’s early loan recipients—back in 2005. Through an interest-free loan, the Society enabled Marvin to purchase some of his first tools for his carpentry trade. Marvin made quite an impression on all of us because of how quickly he paid back his loan. In those days, the Society didn’t give second and third loans to our beneficiaries, so Marvin had to make do with that single loan. Nevertheless, he worked hard and managed his money well, and he kept his business going in bad times and in good. Although Marvin does all types of carpentry, he specializes in making and repairing furniture.

Honduras microloan One of the things that always impressed us about Marvin (in addition to his faithfulness, honesty, and industriousness) was the fact that he took care of his widowed mother, Maria. For many years, his mother lived with him in a house that he rented. Recently, Marvin decided to finally build a house of his own for his mother and him to live in. He had saved up money over the years to be able to do this. His new house is a modest adobe structure with a metal roof.

Honduras microloan However, in moving to a new house, Marvin also needed to build a new carpentry shop. Yet he didn’t have the funds to do this. So he asked the Society for a small loan to build a modest workshop adjoining his new house. We were more than happy to help this faithful brother in this way. The loan also helped to cover some essential repairs on the pickup truck he uses in his work.

Honduras microloan In many ways, Marvin is the embodiment of the very type of person the Society wants to help through our microloan ministry. He is a godly Christian who has a good testimony both in his church and to those on the outside. He is hard-working and provides his customers with quality work at a fair price. Finally, he manages his money well and is faithful in paying his debts. When you pray tonight, please remember Marvin and his mother in your prayers. Thank you!
