The Martyrs Mirror was printed in 1748-1749 at Ephrata Cloister in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was the largest book printed in Colonial America.
Tieleman Jansz van Braght compiled the large volume because he felt that "Men are more easily converted by good examples than by good teaching, because examples are more impressive."
