The Waldensians were the most significant kingdom movement of the Middle Ages. They began around 1170 in the bustling medieval city of Lyon, France. Here lived a wealthy merchant named Waldesius. One day, touched by the kingdom gospel of Jesus, Waldesius gave away all of his wealth and began preaching about the kingdom of God in the streets and marketplaces. Soon, he attracted many Christian seekers and founded a movement that spread the gospel of the kingdom throughout Europe.
