A Bible Riddle

A Riddle From 1 Kings
By Chuck Pike

Solomon said, to unlock a parable, wisdom is the key.
Jesus spoke in parables because, “Though seeing, they do not see”.

So I have a riddle to test you today. Do you know your Bible well?
Where can you find the story that matches the clues I’m about to tell?

Scene One:

An infant child is in dispute. Is the mother’s story true?
In a difficult question of parenthood, what should a righteous man do?

The man falls asleep and has a dream, a message from above.
It helps him solve the problem, with God’s wisdom and with love.

A wicked one wants the child killed, out of envy and out of hate;
But the righteous trick the wicked, and the child escapes that fate.

(The air is filled with a mother’s cries;
Another innocent child dies.)

Scene Two:

A royal caravan makes its way across the desert sand.
They seek to meet someone great, before returning to their own land.

Overwhelmed when they finally meet him, when they see the Jewish king;
They leave behind the gifts, gold and spices that they bring.

This king is a builder: many structures, with wood, with stone and gold.
He was the one to raise the temple, exactly as was foretold.

He was the Son of David; he was the wisest man.
Surely you must know who he was? Tell me if you can.

Conclusion:

And now the test: it’s up to you. All clues have been given out.
Where can you find this story, and who is it REALLY about?

Solomon said, to unlock a parable, wisdom is the key.
Jesus spoke in parables because, “Though seeing, they do not see”.
