Born into a wealthy family in medieval Italy, Francis gave up wealth and honor for the kingdom of God. He was even disinherited by his father. However, he and his band of brothers preached the gospel of Jesus throughout Europe and set an example for all Christians on what it means to truly live by the Sermon on the Mount. Francis even preached Christ to the Muslim sultan of Egypt.
