If someone were to ask you what was the theme of Jesus' preaching, what would be your answer? Man's need for salvation? God's love for mankind? The new birth?

To be sure, Jesus spoke about all of those things. And they're all essential truths. But none of them were the theme of His teaching. The theme of Jesus' message was the kingdom of God. Wherever He went, Jesus preached about the kingdom.

The irony is that the message of the kingdom is almost totally missing from the gospel that’s preached today. As a result, a lot of Christians don’t realize that the kingdom of God is a present reality on earth. In fact, they don’t even know what the kingdom of God is. Consequently, they never make the kingdom commitment that Christ requires.

In The Kingdom that Turned the World Upside Down, David Bercot takes the reader back to Jesus' teachings of the kingdom - teachings that have too often been forgotten. Bercot describes the radically new laws of the kingdom and its upside-down values. There's no room in Christ's kingdom for superficial Christianity, for this is a kingdom that has historically turned the world upside down.

The Kingdom that Turned the World Upside Down will challenge you to the core in your Christian walk.

A Solid, Biblical refutation of Materialism 01/04/2013
By Steve Coerper
At the encouragement of Peter Goodgame (RedMoonRising) I bought and devoured "The Kingdom That Turned the World Upside Down." Sam Pascoe is credited with observing: "Christianity started out in Palestine as a fellowship; it moved to Greece and became a philosophy; it moved to Italy and became an institution; it moved to Europe and became a culture; it came to America and became an enterprise." We in America have become saturated with Babylonian values and have come to view Christianity through that paradigm. How refreshing of David Bercot to refocus the "faith once delivered" without the materialistic underlayment. Here is the basic Kingdom message with the power to transform individual lives and entire cultures. Here is the impetus to get rid of all this "stuff" that consumes our lives, live free in Christ, and have an impact instead of merely being distressed spectators in this cultural freefall. If you are a committed Christian; if you really want to help turn this world -- not "upside down" but rather -- rightside up, I recommend this book without reservation but with one additional suggestion: you read it as part of a trilogy with Francis Chan's "Crazy Love" and Roger Hertzler's "Through the Eye of a Needle." This is solid, Biblical thought, clearly expressed and presented with the exciting premise that "we can DO this!"

The Kingdom That Turned the World Upside Down 03/13/2009

I read this book after I read a review of it by Bro. Denny of Charity Gospel Fellowship. I was very new to the idea of two kingdoms and Kingdom Christianity at the time and was mostly just curious. As someone who was, at that time, heavily involved in politics and was contemplating entry into the military in the wake of 9/11, needless to say this book turned my world upside down. At first I hated the message this book so clearly illuminated. But I could not escape that this book spoke the truth of scripture, which I had always heard 'explained away.' I could no longer accept those all-to-common 'explanations' and, through serious soul-searching and further investigation, realized I could and should accept the scripture for what it very clearly says. This book launched that investigation in ernest. I then ordered and read Will the Real Heretics Please Stand Up and that conviction grew. Both of these books changed my life, helping embrace my true place in Christ and His kingdom, a

The Kingdom That Turned the World Upside Down 04/29/2010

An absolutely life-changing book. As a young Christian raised in the mainstream Evangelical Church, for most of my life I've struggled to piece together Christianity as I saw it in the world around me with what I read in the Bible. My political opinions would swing wildly from right to left to right again; as an Evangelical politics and Christianity were intricately intertwined into everything I'd been taught. I knew very little of the Early Church or what they believed. Then I met an Anabaptist family and was instantly drawn to their simple, peaceful and non-political faith. They gave me a copy of this book (maybe they hoped it would quiet some of the questions I was firing at them!) and I could not put it down. The accounts of the various groups of Kingdom Christians, their suffering at the hands of the mainstream church and their conviction and nonresistance through it all had me in tears. This Kingdom as revealed in the teachings of Jesus, the Apostles and the early church fath

The Kingdom that turned the world upside down 01/31/2013

The best exposition of the doctrine of the kingdom I have ever read! I have already put together two sermons modeled after his arguments. And I must say, it was a tremendous success in my congregation. I'm now working on a small booklet (tract) on the Kingdom of Heaven (inspired by this book) to be used to mass produce and distribute it in my city (Toronto). Bercot, in one of his teaching CD's even deplores the lack of spiritually sober literature that is in wide circulation. This book, as well as his teaching CD's on this subject is an essential tool for evangelism. We must preach the Gospel of the Kingdom in the whole world as a witness unto all the nations! Let us never settle for easy-believism that is so popular in the religious world today. The book is challenging, even to those who uphold the doctrine, the arguments superbly structured, the sheer simplicity is unparalleled (no fancy theological language is employed throughout the book), the analogies are excellent and amusing

Must Read! 09/05/2017

This book has made a lasting impact on my life. It was simple yet powerful. One of the most logical, simple, and honest approaches to the writings of the New Testament.

As someone who grew up in a Restoration Movement (Stone- Campbell, specifically ICOC) church I was challenged in my understanding of the Good News that Jesus preached. This book forced me to face Jesus' teachings. Ultimately calling me higher.

This book is great, not because it has some secret, but because it echoes the simple Good News of the Kingdom of God as proclaimed by the King.

I am so glad to find that this book is available at a reduced cost for evangelistic purposes. I have bought many through another book store and from the beginning knew that I would give them free of charge to any honestly interested person. This is the book that I give out to people when I introduce them to our website www.theoriginalchristianchurch.org Thank you so much for providing an excellent tool to get people thinking about returning to the early church principles and lifestlye. Great Book 04/25/2020
By Regina Shea
I really enjoyed reading this book. I learned about myself and I came to the realization that I hadn't been living completely according to the teachings of Jesus. I was challenged to examine my beliefs. I appreciated David Bercot explaining the two kingdoms and how "Christians" fell away from the teachings of Jesus.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion which are all my own.

Extremely informative 03/16/2012

I have very much enjoyed the book "The Kingdom That Turned The World Upside Down." I have never read anything like it. It was extremely informative as I began to read it. I found that I really wanted to take my time and really grasp the message. It is also a book that one can read over and over again.
