S-Francis-of-Assisi.jpg CD Set: Francis of Assisi - New!
$9.95

David Bercot. The essence of Christianity is an obedient love-faith relationship with Jesus Christ. Since the days of the apostles, very few Christians have had such an obedient love-faith relationship with Jesus, as did Francis of Assisi. Born into a wealthy family in medieval Italy, Francis gave up wealth and honor for the kingdom of God. He was even disinherited by his father. However, he and his band of brothers preached the gospel of Jesus throughout Europe and set an example for all Christians on what it means to truly live by the Sermon on the Mount. Francis even preached Christ to the Muslim sultan of Egypt.

Francis’ life is not only inspiring and challenging, but it teaches us much about God’s grace and His love for all people.

S-After-Acts.jpg CD: What Happened After Acts
$4.95

D. Bercot. The Book of Acts ends with Paul’s first imprisonment in Rome. But what happened after that? What eventually became of Paul? What about Peter, John and the rest of the apostles? How far did Christianity spread in the 1st and 2nd centuries? Who led the church after the apostles died? What challenges did the new church face?

Happily, we don’t have to guess about such matters. The historical record of the 2nd century sheds considerable light on what happened during the 1st century after the Book of Acts was written. This message covers the period from A.D. 30 to the middle of the 2nd century.

S-Nicolaitans.jpg CD: Who Were the Nicolaitans and the Gnostics?
$4.95
D. Bercot. There were two primary heretical groups during the New Testament period: The Nicolaitans and the Gnostics. Revelation refers to the Nicolaitans, and both Paul and John allude to the Gnostics in their letters. But the New Testament tells us very little about what these groups believed and practiced.

Both of these groups grew larger once the apostles passed away, and the early Christian writings provide considerable information about both of these early heretical groups. In this CD, Bercot explains how both of these groups originated and what they believed and practiced.

S-Donatists-CD.jpg CD: Donatists
$4.95

D. Bercot. In the age of Constantine, the Donatists were the first ones to stand up and ask, "What does the emperor have to do with the church?" It was a question that needed to be asked, but the Donatists paid a heavy price in blood for asking it. Although by no means without their own faults, the Donatists left an enduring witness that is remembered to this day.

S-Novatianists.jpg CD: Novatianists
$4.95

Novatian was a learned and spiritually-minded Christian who served as a presbyter in the church at Rome in the 3rd century. However, concerned with spiritual laxity in the church, he broke from the established church and helped to plant one of the first kingdom restoration movements in church history. The Novatianist church lasted 500 years, surviving both the Great Persecution under Diocletian and the church-state hybrid begun by Constantine. Here is an account of their fascinating history.

S-Nestorians.jpg CD: Nestorians

In the first century, the disciple Thaddeus brought Christianity to the Persian Empire, establishing what came to be known as the Church of the East. This kingdom-minded church took Christianity to China, India, Southeast Asia, Mongolia, and even Siberia. At one time, these Christians encompassed a geographical area greater in size than that of the Roman Catholic Church. However, when these Christians refused to give Mary the title, “Mother of God,” the Catholic Church branded them as heretics and labeled them as Nestorians.

"The Error of Imputed Righteousness" and
"How Should Christians Dress"

In this CD, David Bercot reads two of John Wesley's works: The Error of Imputed Righteousness and How Christians Should Dress. Wesley strongly opposed the teaching that Christ's blood does not actually deliver us from sin, but rather simply covers us so that we continue to live in sin. He also strongly preached that if we have truly been born again, it should be reflected in how we dress.

S-Faith.jpg CD: The Faith Once For All Delivered
$4.95
D. Bercot. The Scriptures speak of the “faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). Yet, some Christians claim that the Church has the authority to further develop the faith. Did the original faith lack something? In this message, Bercot explains what the earliest Christians believed—those who had received the faith firsthand from the apostles.

S-Claims-of-Rome-cd.jpg CD: The Claims of Rome
$4.95

D. Bercot.
The Roman Catholic Church claims that Peter was the first pope. It further claims that the pope, or bishop of Rome, has been vested with primary authority over all other Christians as “Christ’s vicar on earth.” The Catholic Church also claims that the pope is infallible when defining matters of faith and morals.

But is this what Christians originally believed? Bercot quotes from Scripture and the early Christians to demonstrate that Rome’s claims have no basis.

S-Seven-Councils.gif CD: Myth of the 7 Councils
$4.95

D. Bercot. The Eastern Orthodox Church claims that there have been seven ecumenical councils, whose decisions have the same authority as Scripture. But is this true? What really happened at these seven councils? What were their pronouncements? Who called for the convening of them?

In this message, Bercot demonstrates that the claims made about these councils are quite mythical. Not only were their decisions not inspired by God, they often directly contradicted God’s written Word.
