As Bender explains, “The Anabaptists were concerned most of all about a true Christian life, that is, a life patterned after the teaching and example of Christ.” This is Bender’s original message, read by Dean Taylor, author of the recent best seller, A Change of Allegiance. more.

"Love Your Enemies and Bless Them that Curse You"
18 x 24 art print on heavy stock

Probably no scene from The Martyrs Mirror is quite as memorable as that of Dirk Willems turning to save the life of the drowning deputy who had been sent to arrest him. Despite his act of Christian love, the Catholic authorities still ordered the deputy to arrest Dirk, who they later burned at the stake. Yet, in the end, Dirk Willems has outlived his executioners.

The story of Dirk Willems is one that should never be forgotten. To that end, we have procured a professional artist to create an oil painting of this memorable scene. The painting closely follows the etching in The Martyr¡¯s Mirror , although it is not intended to be an exact copy of it.

We are offering large full color prints of this oil painting at the affordable price of $6.95 each. The prints are on 80 lb. card stock, enhanced with a glossy coating. These prints are suitable for framing or can be hung as posters. The picture does not come framed.

We offer discounts on multiple copies, as follows:

1 copy = $6.95
2 copies = $5.45 ea.
3 copies = $5.25 ea.

Nothing says more about the state of Christianity in our time than how Christians do, or refuse to do, “mission work.” All the way from presenting the Gospel through entertainment (Christian movies and festivals) to preaching such a narrow, sectarian Gospel, based on such wobbly “fundamentals” that no one gets convinced (at least not for long), Christians have tried desperately through the last century to make themselves relevant, effective, or at least heard.

Verduin devotes a chapter to each aspect of Anabaptist faith and life that were suggested by the derisive names their opponents gave them.

In 16th century Europe, the Anabaptists preaching in cities by night, on back streets, and in secret corners behind rail fences set out to do the very thing the apostles had done. They, too, turned the world of their day upside down. What was the secret of their strength? In this book, Hoover explains what gave the Anabaptists their incredible spiritual strength.

by Cornelius J Dyck

Spiritual Life In Anabaptism Christians searching for a closer walk with God have tended to ignore Anabaptism--the tradition which includes such groups as Mennonites and Brethren. From the 16th century to the present, many people have associated Anabaptism with ethics rather than a vibrant faith. That's an incomplete picture, Cornelius J. Dyck believes. Through this collection of writings by early Anabaptist leaders, he shows that they had much to say about knowing God and trusting in Jesus. Spiritual Life in Anabaptism speaks to readers of all backgrounds who want to ponder faith and its relation to prayer, Bible reading, church involvement, work life, and other day-to-day issues. Selections by Menno Simons, Pilgram Marpeck, Balthasar Hubmaier, and many more offer wisdom that can help guide Christians into the next century.

Roger Hertzler. Jesus told us, ““It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” And again, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.”

Many Christians who take Jesus’ commandments very seriously on nonresistance and divorce shrug off His teachings on laying up treasures on earth. In this challenging book, Hertzler challenges all of us to take Jesus’ teachings on wealth seriously.

You can now download "The Triumph, Peace, and Power of True Christianity" in PDF format. This twenty-two page booklet by Pilgram Marpeck was first published in 1532. Though written in response to specific hapenings in his day, there is a timelessness about Marpeck's tract. We too need to hear his warning not to let the arguments of the unfaithful church lure us into thinking that Christians can take up arms to defend themselves, their property, or the cause of Christ. Instead, he encourages us to be faithful to Christ and to bear the cross of suffering even as our Lord Jesus did. Many of the objections raised against defenselessness in the sixteenth century were the same as those that are offered today. Then, as now, the triumph of true Christianity rests on following the suffering Lamb, who is also our victorious King.

What The Early Christians Believed About the Two Kingdoms. The average Christian today has never even heard of the doctrine called “the two kingdoms.” Yet, it is a fundamental doctrine of Christianity that concerns our relationship with the governments of this world. Without understanding the concept of the two kingdoms, we cannot really embrace apostolic Christianity. Bercot discusses the New Testament teaching on this subject and quotes heavily from the early Christians.

What The Early Christians Believed About War. Of all the evils that plague mankind, war is perhaps the greatest. In the past century alone, war claimed over 70 million lives. But Jesus taught His followers to love their enemies. He said, “All who take the sword will perish by the sword.” Paul wrote, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.” Does this mean that Christians cannot go to war against their enemies? How literally did the early Christians take Jesus’ teachings?
