Francisco the Mechanic
September, 2008

Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." Matt. 25:40

Published by the Society of the Good Shepherd, P. O. Box 122, Amberson, PA 17210. (717) 349-7033

A few months ago the Good Shepherd Society granted Francisco Zepeda a loan in Sig-uatepeque. We are happy to introduce you to Francisco and his business in this newsletter.

Francisco is a mechanic with a lot of dedication. He really puts all of his heart and effort into his job. He tells us that when he was very young, through some friends, he became drawn to repairing cars. He liked it a lot and decided that he wanted to do that for a living. At first, he worked in other people’s shops. However, wages in Honduras—even for a mechanic—are really low. So 16 years ago he decided to start his own auto repair shop.

The years that Francisco has dedicated to his repair shop are many. And even though he tells us that sometimes repairing vehicles can be a very difficult job, he also expresses the won-derful blessings that he has received from God through his business. His auto shop is located in his back yard, and through it he has been able to support his family.

Now God, through a loan from the Society, is allowing him to obtain some of the basic equipment he has long needed but never had the means to acquire.

When we asked what advice he would give someone who wanted to start a business like his, he said: “I would tell him to always try to do a good job and be honest—and there you have the key to success!” He further told me, “On the very first day when I opened my shop, I had no repair jobs yet. I was just coming to clean the area where I would be setting up shop. However, I got my very first repair job that day. And since then, I have never lacked work. God has been very faithful.”

He thanks the Good Shepherd Society and all those who donate time and money to make loans like his possible. He also expresses a special thank you to Luis Vega, member of the board of directors for the Society in Siguatepeque, who has been a great help and support to him in both spiritual and business matters.
