The Least of These My Brethren

The Ramos Family and Their Corn Grinder

We had the pleasure of recently visiting one of our new beneficiaries. Ramiro Ramos and his wife Narda have a beautiful family. They have four daughters and one son. They are very excited with their new business. We were happy to see what Ramiro has done and how his business is taking off. However, it was even more wonderful to learn about his testimony. Ramiro wanted us to share it with you as well, so I’ll start with that.

Ramiro comes from a very poor community in Honduras. He has struggled throughout his life to make a better living for himself and his family. Nonetheless, some time ago his life was a complete mess and he was going nowhere. This is how he describes his past:

My life before Christ was bad in every possible way. I was a violent and arrogant person. I enjoyed stealing, lying and any kind of dishonesty. Most of the time I was drunk and my addiction to smoking was hard to get over. I was also mean to my wife and children.

But the Lord gave me a chance to turn my life to Him. Christ transformed my heart and now it belongs to Him.

Ramiro gave his life to Jesus about ten years ago, and his change has been amazing! He is now an active member of the Mennonite church here in Siguatepeque and a respected leader where he lives. His son also became a Christian, and Ramiro feels that his wife and daughters are very close to taking that important decision in their lives.

Ramiro has always worked in construction and agriculture, but he saw it was time to do something more. The Society of the Good Shepherd granted him a loan to start a business with a corn grinder. The money was used to buy the grinder and cover part of the expenses for building a small shed next to their house, where they will provide their service. His wife and older daughter will be in charge of the business but the whole family is involved in one way or the other.

Ramiro is very grateful for this opportunity and asks that you keep him in your prayers as his family business grows and also that the rest of his family comes to Jesus.
