Isbela Campos
A Woman You Can Depend On

Honduras
Nicolas and Isbela Campos
Isbela Campos has been one of the shining success stories in our Honduras micro-loan program. A couple of years ago, we made a loan to Isbela to enable her to purchase used clothing and shoes to sell out of her house (which is located on the main street of Siguatepeque). Her used clothing business was quite successful, and Isbela conscientiously made her loan payments to the Society. Not only did she faithfully pay off her loan, but she also paid it off way ahead of schedule. I soon realized that Isbela was someone we could depend upon.

Soon after paying off her loan, Isbela applied for a new loan from the Society. This time, the loan was to be used for purchasing welding equipment for her husband Nicolas. Nicolas welds metal frames used in construction. The metal frames take the place of wooden studs and wooden frames, and they enable a building to be constructed very quickly. In fact, the maternity ward that volunteers will be building in August will be made entirely of concrete blocks and welded metal frames. Among the items that Nicolas welds are wall frames, door frames, and window frames.

Isbela and Nicolas live quite modestly, and Nicolas runs his business out of a simple shed in his back yard. Before the loan from the Society, Nicolas had no power equipment of his own. He rented an arc welder for welding, and he had to use a hack saw for cutting the metal. However, with a loan from the Society, he and Isbela were able to purchase an arc welder, a compressor, and a metal-cutting electric saw. This has been a huge help for his small business.

Many of Nicolas’ customers are churches. In fact, Nicolas has recently helped to build ten or more churches. He told me that he likes to construct churches and buildings for ministries, as it enables him to work around other Christians. Isbela and Nicolas want to thank all of you who helped make their loan possible. DB
