Honduras microloan When Deborah and I were in Honduras in February of 2016, we were delighted to meet a fireball named Jonatan Sierra. He was a new loan recipient, and at the group meeting he was giving a demonstration of his business. His enthusiasm and passion were contagious as he gave us a multi-media presentation of what his business, EDUFAJU, does.

EDUFAJU is an acronym for Educación, Familia, and Jóvenes (Education, Family and Youth). With the help of his wife Keila, Jonatan offers training, workshops and conferences to teachers, students, and ministries on topics like family, youth, leadership, and teamwork at churches, camps, schools, workplace, etc. There had never been anything like this in Siguatepeque, so Jonatan’s new business has been well received. However, to get his business started, Jonatan needed to buy some equipment like an LCD projector, printer, and other items he and his wife needed for their group conferences. With an interest-free loan from the Society, they were able to buy the needed equipment to get this business off the ground.

Honduras microloan Jonatan serves as the youth pastor of a local church. Although the church provides him with some financial support, like most pastors in Honduras, Jonatan needs some type of job or business to provide the main financial support for his wife and family. EDUFAJU has been perfect for this, as it enables him to earn income without sacrificing the ministries he and his wife are currently involved in.

Honduras microloan Although Jonatan is now a youth pastor, he didn’t grow up in a Christian atmosphere. In fact, his childhood and teenage years were quite rough. However, through these experiences, God was preparing Jonatan for a ministry with teenagers. In 2003 things took a turn for the better in Jonatan’s life, and he committed his life to Christ. Two years later, he moved to Siguatepeque to study at the Bible college there in order to become a youth pastor. Since then, Jonathan and his wife have served in a variety of ministries, but their main focus has been with youth.

Jonathan and Keila are very grateful for the opportunity the Society has given them, and they want to thank all of you donors who have made their loan possible. Nancy Barahona
