Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." Matt. 25:40

Honduras microloan For many years Ada Luz and her husband ran a business in one of the large cities of Honduras. Her husband was in charge of the bookkeeping and invoices and she helped with the store. The business was located next to where they lived, and it was doing well. Each year it was growing. However, her husband died suddenly in 2011, and she was left alone to raise four daughters and to run the business on her own.

Honduras microloan After her husband’s death, Ada Luz tried to keep the business going. However, the section of the city where she and her daughters lived kept growing increasingly violent. Finally, because of the violence she realized she needed to move out of the city. Unfortunately, she was forced to sell her business at a “fire-sale” price because of the situation. Ada Luz and her daughters moved to Siguatepeque, where life is more peaceful. She decided to start a school and office supplies store in Siguatepeque. However, having been forced to sell the family business at a heavily discounted price, she had limited resources to purchase the inventory for her new business.

Honduras microloan However, about two months ago, the Good Shepherd Society heard about Ada’s situation, and it granted her a loan to help her buy more inventory. With the loan she was able to buy items like paper, notebooks, toner, daily planners, and many other things to expand her business.

Honduras microloan She has expressed her deep gratitude towards God and everyone who made it possible for her—and other Hondurans in situations like hers—to receive interest-free business loans and to be able to turn their lives around. Ada’s second name Luz means “light,” and Ada feels she can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.
