Deysi Mayorga: Faith Amid Tribulations
July, 2013

Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." Matt. 25:40

Honduras microloan Deysi Mayorga is a dedicated mother of five. Her life has not been easy, especially because her husband was always drinking and she barely had enough money to feed their children. During a time of desperation she found God. This caused more trouble to their marriage. Her husband left because he did not agree with her new “lifestyle.” Some sisters from her congregation became an enormous encouragement and help to her. They started to teach her to sew and embroider. She learned how to make quilts, dresses and shirts, among other things. This not only became a distraction from the suffering she was going through, but it also provided a good income for her family.

Honduras microloan For several years now, Deysi has been a seamstress. Her youngest daughter is now 13, and her husband finally decided that this whole “Christian life” was not so bad and came back home. However, he and their second-oldest son have still not given their lives to Christ. The rest of their children have been converted.

At the beginning of this year, their second-oldest son, who is 18 years old, had a serious accident. To pay the many bills for doctors and medication, Deysi was forced to use money from her business. Opportunely, she received a loan from the Society, which brought her business back to life! With this loan she was able to buy the new sewing machine that she needed, together with material to work with. God has blessed her business with more work since then!

Honduras microloan Sadly, her troubles have not ended. During this past month of June, their oldest son became very ill. He has a heart and lung condition that doctors are still studying. Again, they had to pay for medical examinations, causing great distress to her family’s finances. Still, her business is running and prospering. It has been a hard and yet wonderfully blessed year for her.

We would appreciate your prayers for sister Deysi and her family. Please pray especially for her oldest son and his medical condition and for the conversion of her husband and second-oldest son. Nancy Barahona
