The Work Continues to Grow in La Paz

In one of the trips to La Paz, Luis and I were able to visit all of the current beneficiaries. We would like you to meet two of them today:

First, I would like to introduce you to Emmanuel and Seidy Padilla. I spoke with Seidy, and this is their story:

About three years ago, Emmanuel and Seidy agreed to take over the pulperia, or neighborhood mini-mart, that belonged to Emmanuel’s mother. His mother couldn’t take care of it any longer and was thinking of closing the business. Emmanuel and Seidy gave new life to the store. Then, with the loan from the Society of the Good Shepherd, they were able to buy the freezer they needed to sell meat and sausages. They also added products like bottled water, juice, canned milkshakes and a few other things that have increased their amount of customers and, of course, their income.

The earnings are of great help to this couple. Emmanuel has another full-time job, but he does not make enough money to pay for all the family’s needs. They have a beautiful baby and they are both studying at the university.

Seidy asked us to pray for their business and their studies.

We also met sister Martha Hernández. She has had a food stand at a local high school in La Paz for fourteen years. However, a while ago thieves broke into her stand and took everything she had. Thankfully, God has blessed her, and with her small savings and financial discipline, she was able to buy all her cooking equipment again. Now she does all of the cooking at home, and she only uses the stand for selling. That way, all of the cooking equipment stays at her home. With the loan that the Society gave her, she bought a large supply of ingredients she uses to make the food.

Sister Martha asks that we pray for her family and especially for some of her sons who are not Christians.

Please remember in your prayers the businesses of all the brothers and sisters to whom the Society has granted loans.

May the Lord bless you!
