Francisco Alvarado’s Upholstery Business

In January of this year, Brother Francisco Alvarado became the latest loan bene-ficiary of the Society of the Good Shepherd in Siguatepeque. This brother has been a member of Hermón Baptist Church in Siguatepeque for the past 14 years and has served in several ministries. Currently, he is the treasurer of this congregation. Through another person who had obtained a small business loan from the Society, Francisco heard about the Ministry and applied for a loan.

Brother Francisco has had a furniture upholstery shop for about five years. He tells us that he started out just by doing reupholstering and making repairs to existing furniture. That’s because he didn’t have the money to buy materials and tools to do more than that. Nevertheless, he had sufficient tools to start up his small business, doing the li-mited jobs he was taking on. His business started to grow, and soon he saw the need to expand his line of work to be better able to support his family. So he decided to take a risk and start making sofas and seats according to his clients’ needs and preferences.

Now Francisco not only makes repairs and reupholsters existing furniture, he also makes living room sets. God has blessed his life in special ways. And now his business is also being blessed with a loan that has enabled him to buy more tools and materials and even hire helpers to make his furniture. So the business not only supports his family, but helps others provide for their families.

When we asked this brother what role his spiritual life plays in his business he answered: “It plays a huge role! It’s what sustains it. Being honest and responsible, as all Christians should be in their businesses, has allowed me to have satisfied clients and suppliers who trust me. Those are essential things for my business!”

Many thanks to all the ones who have donated to help brothers like Francisco. We also appreciate your prayers, and we would now like to especially ask you to pray for Fran-cisco and his family and for his furniture shop. May the Lord bless you greatly!
